Incoming 1L Summer Guide: Subject Resources

Guide of books, videos, and current awareness resources prepared for new law students.

Subject Specific Resources

Study Aids

The items listed here are subject specific study aids. They can help you understand many legal concepts. Most of the items are part of the Reserve collection which is at the Circulation Desk. Click the individual titles to see the catalog record for location and availability (you can see if it's checked out).

Case Books

The Law Library tries to purchase the case books assigned for first year classes; those items are on Reserve.

West Academic Study Aids

When you see "West Academic Study Aids" after a title it means we have an electronic version of the book. You initially access the study aids subscription with your MyID. Then you should create your own account which allows you to take notes and highlight. Be sure to look at all the titles under 1L Subjects.

Additional titles and resources designed to help you prepare for law school,

There are a few titles in Westlaw or Lexis+. You can access them after you have set-up your Westlaw and LexisNexis accounts. Account access passwords are distributed in your Legal Research class.
